Forbes: ShoeDazzle and Rita Ora Want to Provide Life-Changing Support to Women

Rita Ora reveals the best business advice she’s ever gotten

by Isis Briones| Oct 30th, 2020

Rita Ora is a triple threat. She’s a singer, actress, and business woman. Recently, the British star teamed up with the popular online subscription company ShoeDazzle for a standout shoe collection.

She wanted her fans to exude confidence as soon as they slipped on her designs. The collaboration features an array of bold styles including hot pink over-the-knee boots, bright, white combat boots, tasseled red stilettos, and so much more. Even if you pick just one pair from the collection, it’s sure to transform your closet this season and that’s exactly what Ora had in mind. Shoes can make or break any look and Ora made it her mission to ensure that customers could rely on ShoeDazzle to always take things to the next level.

Additionally, as a result of the affordable price points, this makes it easier for shoppers to go above and beyond with the experimentation of their style. Ora recognizes the importance of making footwear accessible. Instead of overpaying for designer labels, she has proven that you can have knockout celebrity-approved apparel without spending all your savings.

Ora’s partnership doesn’t just stop at delivering an incredible, high-quality line, she also teamed up with the brand to create the Rita Ora and ShoeDazzle Women of the Future Fund. In October, an investment of $100,000 was made to be awarded in grants to three lucky women in the arts. Ora alongside ShoeDazzle want to provide life-changing support to women, who are typically underrepresented in creative industries.

Ultimately, Ora will decide the winners. Then, she’ll announce them on December 16th and the grants will officially be awarded January 2021. Stay tuned to see the talented winners, but until then, check out Ora’s interview below regarding her ShoeDazzle partnership and all that she’s learned from her versatile career so far.

Isis Briones: First, which style is your favorite from the collection and why?

Rita Ora: “That’s a tough one, there are so many great styles to choose from. Right now, I’m really obsessed with the High Road boot as I’ve been wearing this style a ton lately. I just love how confident I feel in them. They’re a great style that can easily transition from day to night and make any outfit look major.”

IB: Throughout your career, what’s the best business advice you’ve ever been given?

RO: “I’ve gotten so much good advice over the years, but I would say the best would be to trust my gut. I’ve been through a lot in my career and there have been people who have counted me out, but through it all I’ve always believed in myself and my vision for my career.

Whether it’s putting together an album, developing creative concepts for my tours or designing shoes, I always go with my gut instinct. A lot of my inspiration comes from women who have been able to do it all like Madonna, Whitney, and Aaliyah. I strongly believe you can do it all and you don’t have to be put into one box. For instance, I’m more than just a musician, I love being able to follow my passions wherever they take me.”

IB: You work with so many brands, how do you know if a partnership is right for you?

RO: “For me, it’s all about having an authentic connection. I’m very hands on when it comes to my partnerships. I want to be right in the thick of it. If I’m putting my name on it, I need to feel a connection, not only with the product, but with the people I’m working with as well.

This is what really drew me to working with ShoeDazzle. It was important for me to partner with a brand who understood the need for accessibility, and one that would let me have creative control. The team has been so great to work with, the energy is fantastic, and they have such a strong female presence on the executive level. It felt so great to be surrounded by so many women, and it really paved the way for the development of The Women of the Future Fund.

When I started this partnership, I felt very strongly that there should be an element of giving back. I’ve always tried to use my platform to fight for issues I’m passionate about. From working with the WHO or as a UNICEF Ambassador, it’s important for me to pay it forward. ShoeDazzle, understood how important this was to me and we were able to create The Women of the Future Fund, which is a grant initiative to help female creatives. It’s all about empowering women and giving them an opportunity to really put their voices out there.”

IB: Finally, who would you say has been your biggest business inspiration?

RO: “I would have to say my sister, Elena. She’s a part of my management team and is such a boss. We work really well together, and we push each other to be the best versions of ourselves. I’m so impressed by her drive and determination and having her by my side through this journey has been incredible.”
